Terms of Service
Last updated August 17, 2026
Stele is operated by Akash T, a sole proprietor based in India ("Stele", "we", "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Stele website, web app and browser extension (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Stele lets you capture parts of web pages, including elements, regions, screen recordings, bookmarks and notes, keep them in a personal library that syncs across your devices, and turn captures into code. Which features are available depends on your plan. The current plans and prices are on our pricing page.
2. Accounts
You must be at least 18, or old enough to enter a contract where you live with your guardian's consent. Give accurate account information, keep your credentials secure, and treat everything done under your account as your responsibility. Tell us at hello@stele.so if you believe your account has been compromised. Stele is in public beta, and access during the beta is granted at our discretion.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- capture, store or publish content you do not have the right to use;
- infringe intellectual property, privacy or other rights of anyone else;
- upload or distribute unlawful, malicious or deliberately harmful material;
- work around plan limits, quotas, access controls or authentication;
- scrape, resell or redistribute the Service, or reverse engineer it except where the law expressly allows it;
- interfere with the availability, security or integrity of the Service.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you capture and upload. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, transmit, display and process that content only to operate the Service for you, including syncing it to your devices and running features you ask for. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies held briefly in routine backups. You are responsible for having the right to capture and store what you save.
5. AI features
AI features are optional and can be turned on or off per feature in Settings. When one is on, the content it needs is sent to our AI provider for processing and the result is returned to your library. Do not enable AI features for content you are not permitted to share with a third-party processor. AI output can be wrong or incomplete, so review it before you rely on it. AI usage is metered against your plan's allowance.
6. Third-party content and sites
The Service displays content from the pages you capture and links to sites we do not control. We do not endorse that content, and the operators of those sites set their own terms.
7. Plans, billing and taxes
Paid plans are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the merchant of record and reseller for every purchase. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms. Prices are shown in US dollars on our pricing page and exclude tax unless stated otherwise; Paddle calculates, collects and remits any sales tax, VAT or GST due. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Where a plan is billed per seat, the charge is per seat for the period. If we change a price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to one of your renewals.
8. Free trial
Pro is offered with a free trial. Your payment method is collected at checkout and is not charged until the trial ends, and the trial length is shown to you before you confirm. Cancel before the trial ends and you will not be billed. Trials are limited to one per customer.
9. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time from Settings, then Billing. Our Refund Policy sets out how cancellations and refunds work and forms part of these Terms.
10. Availability and changes to the Service
Stele is in public beta. Features may change, be added or be removed, and we do not promise a particular level of uptime unless we have agreed one with you in writing. We may run maintenance that makes the Service briefly unavailable. Your plan includes a storage allowance; if you exceed it we may ask you to remove content or move to a larger plan before you can save more. You can export your whole library as a .zip at any time from Settings, then Storage, and we recommend keeping your own copy of anything important.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error free, or that captured content or generated code will suit a particular purpose.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, and US$50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, and nothing affects consumer rights that the law of your country gives you and does not allow us to exclude.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from the content you capture or upload, or from your breach of these Terms or of the law.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by writing to hello@stele.so. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if your payment fails, or if we must do so for legal reasons. On termination your access ends and your content may be deleted after a reasonable period. Terms that by their nature should survive, including sections 11 to 13, survive.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The revised version is posted here with a new date, and where a change is material we will give notice by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the change.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law rules, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory rules of law in your country of residence. Please contact us first, as most issues are settled far faster that way.
